T.V. Golden 1853 -
Born in Iowa in 1853, Golden came to Nebraska in 1883 and started the O'Neill Tribune. He sold the paper after a year and went into law. Golden ran the T.V. Golden Abstract Co. for 6 to 7 years and then went into real estate where he amassed a fortune. Much of his success was due to the book of field notes which he had compiled on the topography, soils and stratified underlaying subsoils of the different parts of Holt County. He owned 10,000 acres of Holt County land and blocks of town property in O'Neill. He served on the O'Neill Board of Education, the Holt County Board of Supervisors (1893-94) and was a Democratic representative on the State Board of Electors in 1884.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Golden Papers, along with the Omer Kem Papers, were found in boxes containing the Arthur Mullens papers. Arthur Mullens was a lawyer from Nebraska with a connection to Creighton Law. He funded an essay award for Law students in the early 1900's. It is unclear how the Golden Papers came to be with the Mullen Papers, whether it was done with the donation or the papers where mixed together later. It was clear that the Golden Papers did not belong with the Mullen Papers so they were separated into separate collections.
General
The Golden Papers consist of letters concerning the real estate business in Holt County, Nebraska, land description, prices, etc.
Includes correspondence from T.V. Golden as a real estate agent and as an officer and stockholder of the Niobrara Irrigation and Power Company. The letters deal specifically with such matters as real estate promotion, tax, litigation, canal and irrigation projects, mortgages, and real estate value in Nebraska.
The letters are indexed by listing the names of persons or companies to whom the correspondence is addressed in the front of back of their respective volumes. The page number on which a particular letter falls follows the name f the addressee in each index.
Volume 18 has been missing for as long as the archives has had a record of the papers. It is unclear whether this volume ever made it to the archives.
